在《新概念英語》經(jīng)典版第二冊第80課的難點(diǎn)部分，出現(xiàn)了有關(guān)on引導(dǎo)的短語用法，今天就來跟大家做個梳理分享 。
一、教材中的短語（一）on display該短語表示“展覽；公開展出” 。類似的短語還有：on show 。如：
His paintings areon displayat the exhibition. 他的繪畫正在展覽會上展出 。
These pictures will beon shownext week. 下周將公開展出這些畫 。

（二）on business該短語表示“出差” 。如：
I have to go to Londonon businesstomorrow. 明天我要到倫敦去辦事 。
He travels to the stateon businesstwice a year. 他每年兩次去美國進(jìn)行商務(wù)旅行 。

（三）on foot該短語表示“走路；步行” 。如：
The old couple enjoyed travellingon foot. 這對老人喜歡徒步旅行 。
If the weather permits, I'll go to townon foot. 如果天氣許可，我將步行進(jìn)城 。

（四）on duty該短語表示“值班；當(dāng)班” 。如：
He reported the murder to the policeon duty. 他將兇殺事件告知值班警察 。
Two retired workers areon dutyguarding the gate. 兩個退休工人值班守衛(wèi)大門 。

（五）on the whole該短語表示“總的來說；總體而言” 。如：
We have our bad times, buton the whole, we're fairly happy. 我們有過糟糕的時期，但整體上來說還是相當(dāng)快樂的 。
On the whole, I'm in favour of the proposal. 總的說來，我贊成這個提議 。

（六）on fire該短語表示“著火；起火” 。如：
If your home wason fireand you could save only one thing, what would it be? 如果你家著了火，而你只能搶救出一樣?xùn)|西，你會拿什么呢？
The house wason firelast night and was burned down. 那幢房子昨晚著火了，被燒為平地 。

（七）on purpose該短語表示“故意地；有意地” 。如：
I didn't do iton purpose- it was an accident. 我不是故意這樣做的，是個意外 。
She seems to do these thingson purpose. 她似乎是有意地做這些事 。
