（十四）on sale該短語表示“打折出售” 。如：

Many sweet foods areon salein the store. 這家商店在廉價出售多種甜食 。
Is this toothpasteon saletoday? 這種牙膏今天減價出售嗎？
【注意】

英語中還有一個常用短語：for sale，表示“出售；待售” 。如：
The goodsfor saleare set out attractively. 出售的貨物陳列得非常誘人 。
We have many types of cosmeticsfor sale. 我們有許多種化妝品待售 。

（十五）on behalf of該短語表示“代表” 。如：
She invested the moneyon behalf ofher ward. 她代表受她監護的人投資 。
I will like to extend a warm welcome to youon behalf ofour fair. 我代表本次交易會向你們表示熱烈的歡迎 。

（十六）on earth該短語表示“究竟；到底” 。如：
Howon earthdid you manage that? 你到底是怎么做的？

（十七）on one hand該短語表示“一方面” 。該短語常和on the other (hand)連用 。如：
He has been criticizedon one handand encouragedon the other. 他一方面受到批評，另一方面卻受到鼓勵 。
On one handI have to work;on the other handI have many visitors to see. 一方面我必須工作；另一方面我有許多來賓要照看 。

（十八）on the contrary該短語表示“相反；反而” 。如：
I'm not ill.On the contrary, I'm very healthy. 我沒有生病 。正相反，我很健康 。
On the contrary, it was very easy to understand. 相反,這事兒很容易理解 。
